Visit to CEE

About CEE - Centre for Environment Education, CEE was created in recognition of the importance of environmental education in India's overall environment and development strategy. The result of a unique partnership between government and a non-governmental institution, CEE was established as a Centre of Excellence in 1984, supported by the Ministry of Environment and Forests (MoEF), Government of India. CEE has inherited the rich multi-disciplinary resource base and varied experience of Nehru Foundation for Development, its parent organisation, which has been promoting educational efforts since 1966 in the areas of science, nature study, health, development, and environment.
CEE's work in Gujarat initiated way before 1984 since its headquarters is located at Ahmedabad. At the time it began its activities, CEE was perhaps the only organization actively engaged in environmental education in the country. The focus of CEE's work in the state has been promoting environment education leading to environmental action.
As I enquired, I noticed that the CEE had worked for Nal Sarovar, about 10 years ago. They were one of the organization, who pitched for the construction of the interpretation centre, but they did not win the pitch. They had created a model of the centre which had rooms like conference area, Audio Video room and exhibition room.
They had also designed a brochure for Nal Sarovar, which covered various aspects of the bird sanctuary like the map, rates and a list of birds.

Some works done by the CEE
• A brochure for Nal Sarovar designed by CEE
• A Model of the Interpretation centre designed by the CEE
